Covid 03/15/2022
A few weeks ago, when all Covid restrictions for travelers coming to Ireland were dropped, we immediately planned a trip over here. We had passports, credit cards, and were fully vaccinated. We bought our airline tickets, made our reservations, and flew to Dublin. I had a slight cold, but I did give it any thought. We knew there was an entry requirement to enter the U.S. of having a negative Covid test. We did not think about that either. We enjoyed our time in Dublin and came to Belfast yesterday. I was getting over my cold and Linda developed a cold. When we got up this morning, we decided to do a home test for Covid. Linda tested positive. I tested positive. Amanda tested negative. Harry tested negative.
Our Ireland adventure took a new direction. It was very important for Amanda to return to the U.S. by this weekend. The question was, would Harry and Amanda test positive next. We discussed our options at this point and made a joint decision for Harry and Amanda to go back to Dublin, take their test at the airport, and head for home. I made them reservations at the Dublin Airport Hilton, while they were packing. We, then went to the Belfast train station, and they boarded the next train to Dublin. They took a taxi to the airport, checked in, and the hotel made arrangements for them to take their tests. Both test came back negative. Harry changed their tickets and they flew out the next morning. They landed in Atlanta about 2 hours ago.
Linda and I stayed in Belfast. We will return to Dublin on Friday and take a Covid test at 3:00 Friday afternoon. We will find out at that point if we will be on a flight home on Saturday or on an extended stay in Ireland. We feel good, Linda’s cold is clearing, and our fingers are crossed.
Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, Its about learning to dance in the rain.
I thought the picture I posted was appropriate for this blog entry. Linda took this picture as I was writing this post.
